Worker Bee

By Melanie

I'm thinking about sprucing up my desk in the spare room (seen here and here) and maybe even my cube at work (I'm really tired of looking at those boring plain filing folders). I found some really fun chic desk accessories from Sorting With Style.

All photos from http://www.sortingwithstyle.com/.

These file folders would look so stylish on my desk!

A little note pad always comes in handy.

I love these binders! They are perfect for storing my inspiration photos and work notes.

I love the design on this clip board. And it's eco-friendly!

I love polka dots! I may leave this one out of the work meetings but it's perfect for my cube or desk at home.

A paper weight with a little reminder.

These are so much prettier than the average sticky note pad.

These accessories will make working so much more fun!

Me and Mac

by Heather
Hello lovely readers! Please excuse my absence from the blog world last week; my dog ate my post. Well, maybe if I had a dog that would be plausible. Actually, my refurbished Toshiba wasn't cooperating so I took the plunge and bought an Apple Macbook Pro! Consequently, I'll be on a PBJ diet for the next 3 months but it's SO worth it. It's amazing! Night and day difference from my PC.... so many cool features and great speed. Here's a snapshot I took of myself while writing this post with my built in camera (I added a vignette effect).

I've also justified the purchase because I'll be taking graphic design classes at Santa Monica Community College soon. Can't wait!
I'm still learning how to use my new Apple and discovering all the features; anyone have any tips?

I'm a skin care nut and always on the search for the new hot product that will leave my skin glowing! My search for the perfect mask is over thanks to the Hungarian skin care line Eminence.

Their masks are made of natural ingredients. So natural, that you can even see and feel the fruit or vegetable particles.
My favorite it the carrot vitamin mask. It smells like CAKE! So yummy that you want to eat it!

Eminence masks are a treat to all your senses. It FEELS amazing, SMELLS divine AND makes your skin LOOK so fresh and gorgeous!

Hello Weekend

By Melanie

photo via glamour

I'm so happy the weekend is almost here. I can't wait to feel refreshed and recharged after a long week!
Last weekend was spent fall cleaning so this weekend it's time to have a little fun.

My "Fun" agenda:
  • Go to breakfast at one of my favorite cafes (can't wait for a yummy soy latte too).
  • Bike ride at the beach with the bf.
  • Hang out with my sister in Santa Monica.
  • Go for a nice run on the board walk.
  • Watch the season premiere of DEXTER on Sunday night. Best show ever! Full of drama, suspense (sometimes I have to close my eyes to the gruesome parts though), great writing and talented actors. If you don't watch, hurry and catch up. Season 4 is about to start!
What do you do to re-energize yourself?

Less Is More

By Melanie

When choosing a makeup look for a night out, I definitely think the same fashion rule "cleavage or legs" applies to makeup. Pick one feature to highlight. Either BOLD EYES or BOLD LIPS.

I prefer highlighting the eye and leaving the lips pale.

But I love how gorgeous bold red lips look. Maybe I should try it sometime.

Mischa Barton highlights the bold lip well.

My sister Heather looks great with the red lips too.
Although it may look amazing and cool pairing both the bold eye and bold lip together on the runway or in an editorial..........

..........in person, I think it's best not to do too much at once. It's just too confusing. I prefer to keep it simple. What about you?

Chic Pad

By Melanie

photo via Super Super Magazine

I've always love to see how people decorate their homes. It's such a creative expression of who you are and an extension of yourself. When designers let us peak into their homes, it's an absolute treat! Definitely some eye candy! Their homes are usually just as creative and gorgeous as their professional work. It's also interesting to see if their homes reflect the same style that they are known for.

Living etc gave us a little peak into the British designer, Lulu Guinness's chic Victorian Terrace.

Lulu Guinness is known for her lips and rose patterns.

Love the curves of the couch.

One of my favorite styles of art is silhouette art. This one is so elegant. I love the black wall decor with the bright blue.

This room is so airy and bright. Look at that huge window! That would make a great breakfast nook.

A blue, black and white palette is just so stylish. I love her over sized perfume bottle sitting on the ledge.

Although Lulu is successful in the fashion world, she's also popular in home decor. She's known for her bed linen.

I like how the rose bed linen is paired with a black headboard. It balances the girliness of the pink flowers.

What a chic home!

Fall Cleaning

By Melanie

This weekend, I'm going to do a little cleaning and organizing. My fall cleaning entails packing away some summer clothes, going through papers that I have in my desk drawer and filing them as well as the usually dusting, laundry and regorganizing my dresser drawers.

Do you like to Fall clean?

BTW, I watched Melrose Place again this week. Getting better but still can't compare to the original!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Lookbook: Lazy Chair Dayz

by Heather
I took these photos of myself on a whim a few weeks ago and completely forgot about them. I think they're pretty cool, but a PBR tall-boy poured over ice would have been the perfect accessory.
So long summer, I'll miss you. Oh wait, I live in SoCal. ha!

Tank: Express
Shorts: Seaton
Shoes: Target (bought in summer '08)
Jewelry: Heirra (Formerly known as Heart by Heather. I've revamped my hand-designed jewelry line and a new Etsy shop is coming soon!)

This 80's editorial photo by Anna Wintour was my inspiration. I initially posted it here. I just saw The September Issue this past weekend, which chronicles her work as editor-in-chief of Vogue. It was interesting but Grace totally stole the spotlight from Anna. Did anyone else see it?

A Little Gem In San Diego

By Melanie

Just south of Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs is one of San Diego's precious jewels. Nestled under the bluffs, lies one of the most beautiful ocean views. This place is perfect for a walk or when you just want to sit and take in the beautiful California scenery.

During our last San Diego trip, this was one of our afternoon stops. I love taking time to appreciate nature; the fresh air and glistening water. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to see the famous sunsets but it was still amazing. What makes this spot special is that you can walk down on the rocks and sit right on top of the water.

This is a definite must see if you're visiting San Diego. I'm sure if you live there, you already know about it (if not you must go). Next visit, I will catch the sunset.
